We have a LIVE role for a market leader in the Healthcare industry recruiting NOW! A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a small team working on exciting projects for a market leader in the supply of medical disposables.
A Design Engineer proficient in Solidworks is required to provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise for designing specialist machinery which could lead to massive opportunities within the organisation.

The company is a manufacturer of sterile medical disposables for both the UK and export markets. This family company has grown to over 300 people with a turnover of over £20m. The products are largely plastic and there is extensive use of technology: extrusion, injection moulding, automation and packaging.
The business has developed much of its own processing equipment and has considerable specialist automation experience.
Job Description
As a Design Engineer you will be required to provide specialist mechanical engineering expertise that is required for designing and building automation machinery, packaging machinery, jigs and fixtures to meet the requirements of production.
Key Areas
1. To provide mechanical engineering expertise to projects from the concept stage through to commissioning.
2. Responsible for the overall management of projects under the direction of the Manufacturing Technical Manger.
3. Responsible for providing innovative engineering solutions that will meet requirements during the concept to commissioning stage of building machines.
4. Responsible for writing User Requirement Specifications.
5. Responsible for project management.
6. Responsible for checking out any processes that include uncertainty.
7. Create CAD drawings in 2-D or 3-D as appropriate and manage the sub-contract manufacture of those components.
8. Create component specifications, manage the bill of materials and the procurement of components.
9. Coordinate the machine build.
10. Coordinate the electrical requirements of machine build projects.
11. Coordinate the control requirements of machine build projects.
12. Responsible for testing of machine function and validation.
13. Responsible for machine commissioning.
14. Responsible for the production of mechanical documentation and the collation of all other documentation to form the machine Technical File.
15. Responsible for writing Operator Instructions, Maintenance Instructions and Schedules and to organise and train operators and maintenance staff in following those procedures.
16. At times will need to supervise engineering technicians involved in machine builds or maintenance.
17. Assist the Maintenance Department in trouble shooting problems where necessary.
It is preferable for applicants to be degree qualified (or equivalent) however a HND (or equivalent) will be considered.
Essential Skills
1. Candidate should have experience / skills / background in:
2. Machine design in the automation or packaging sector
3. Providing innovative engineering solutions
4. 3D Cad systems - Solidworks and Microstation would be beneficial
5. Pneumatics
6. PLC's, control systems and servomotors
7. Supervision of others
8. Lean manufacturing principles

In return for working a days shift we are offering an attractive salary of £30K plus pension and 20 days holiday + stats working up to 30 days.
