Contract (2-3 months ongoing)
Hourly rate negotiable

Are you an experienced Contract Design Engineer with a background in Heavy Engineering or Steel Fabrications and Machining, available immediately?

Working for a growing, established company based in South Yorkshire, with a long established history of excellence in their field, specialising in design and project management, through to manufacture and on site installation. The company:-

* Have been established over 35 years
* Has a large and well equipped manufacturing facility, providing a fully comprehensive service
* Extensive range of services from one off bespoke applications to full turnkey projects, from £2K to £2M
* Current strategy to increase customer portfolio and move towards more specialist niche markets

The suitable candidate will have the following skills and be able to demonstrate their application in previous job roles:-

* Mechanical Design Engineer - Heavy Engineering
* 3D CAD experience, ideally Solidworks, Solid Edge or Inventor
* Experience in Fabricated, Machined and Assembly Steelwork
* Background in layouts, design, sub-assembly, assembly and detail drawings
* Knowledge of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic drive systems
* Able to produce detailed design calculations, and estimates
* Previous experience dealing directly with customers, preparing technical specifications and presenting proposals

The role:-

* Working in a design engineering team of 5, working on technical and commercial enquiries, producing cost effective design solutions and detailed design calculations
* From award of contract, responsible for managing the design element of contracts including hands on design, ensuring optimum solutions are achieved within time and cost constraints.
* Liaising with clients throughout the contract, ensuring any changes are logged, and monitor contract costs through to completion.
* Producing layouts, GA drawings, manufacturing drawings.
* Working closely with the purchasing function on bought out items, with manufacturing on production issues, and assisting with estimates/tender documentation.
