A great day at Uttoxeter Races!
As part of their Best Company celebrations for 2008 Jenrick Engineering welcomed 100 clients of the Burton and Crick branches to Uttoxeter Races on Sunday 29th June.
Jenrick had a wonderfully presented marquee for the afternoon and guests were wined and dined before the racing commenced with the 2.15 Novice Hurdle.
In true British style the heavens opened with force two minutes before the first race and the six umbrella’s quickly became the most sought after fashion accessory for the afternoon.
In between the showers clients and staff managed to make dashes to the Totes to spend their well-earned pennies - and, rumour has it that the Burton Office received all the tips as they all came away winners from the afternoon!
However, at 3.55pm the sun shone through the clouds just in time for the Jenrick Engineering Handicap Hurdle.
Four lucky clients joined Julie Alton, (MD of Jenrick Engineering) in the Parade Ring before race to judge the ‘Best Dressed Horse’ and were then able to watch the race from the Lady Clarke box with the owners and trainers.
From the level of cheering and shouting from Julie throughout the race, we can only assume that her entire life savings were on Honeybrook - who managed to edge home by a neck in the tightest finish of the day!
Julie completed Jenrick’s role in sponsoring the race by presenting the winning owner with a commemorative plaque.
We were also very pleased to have had a prize draw during the afternoon for two annual passes to Uttoxeter Race Course, with local residents and racing enthusiasts, Mike Lyon and his wife, being the lucky winners.
Thank you to everyone for your wonderful feedback & messages of thanks - you all made the day a truly memorable event!
