Have you ever tried Manuka Honey?

I’ve been spreading Manuka Honey on my toast for years after I read some really interesting articles on its health qualities. When I began researching it in detail however, it made very intersting reading.

Honey has always been recognised for its healing and medicinal properties (known as Apitherapy - the name given to treatment with natural honey), but recently a particular type from New Zealand has become widely used in the medical world due to its very powerful and versatile healing qualities.

The name comes from the flowers of the Manuka Bush, which is indigenous to New Zealand. The honey making process is enriched by the pollution free environment of New Zealand, and certain types of Manuka Honey which are produced have been observed to have some very special properties indeed.

The varied stories that are told, from people receiving dog bites that completely clear up after being only treated with manuka honey, to hospital patients that have their bandages soaked in Mauka Honey to speed up the healing process, whilst protecting the wounds from infection.

For me, I simply take it to help avoid catching colds (which I do only have on the very odd occasion), and if I am beginning to feel a bit low I make sure I melt a large spoonful in a hot lemon drink.
